Black Men of South Carolina (BMOSC) believes strong communities are built when people are willing to look out for one another.
Across South Carolina, there are seniors who may need their yards cut, young men who need mentors, families facing difficult circumstances, neighborhoods that need attention, and people who simply need someone willing to lend a helping hand.
That is why BMOSC created the Community Help Program.
Through this program, community members can tell us about a need in their family, neighborhood, church, or community. BMOSC will review the request and, when possible, connect the need with BMOSC members, volunteers, businesses, churches, community organizations, or other resources that may be able to help.
WHAT CAN YOU REPORT?
Tell us where help may be needed.
You can use the Community Help form below to request or report needs such as:
Youth Mentoring
Young men and boys who could benefit from positive male mentors, guidance, education, or career exposure.
Home & Yard Assistance
Minor repairs, lawn cutting, cleanup projects, and assistance for seniors or people who may be unable to complete the work themselves.
Employment & Training
Individuals seeking employment, career guidance, skilled-trades training, or businesses willing to provide opportunities.
Community Improvement
Neighborhoods, churches, schools, or organizations that need volunteers for cleanup or improvement projects.
Community Safety Concerns
Non-emergency concerns affecting the safety and quality of life of a neighborhood.
Other Community Needs
If you see a need that is not listed, tell us about it.
You don't have to be the person who needs help.
If you know an elderly neighbor who needs assistance, a young man who needs a mentor, a family going through a difficult time, or a community that needs volunteers, you may submit a request on their behalf.
When requesting assistance for another person, please provide only information you are authorized to share and let us know whether BMOSC has permission to contact that person.
Every request will be reviewed.
Submitting this form does not guarantee that BMOSC will be able to provide the requested service. Every request will be reviewed based on the circumstances, available volunteers, resources, location, safety considerations, and BMOSC's ability to assist.
When BMOSC cannot directly address a need, we may attempt to connect the individual or family with an appropriate community organization, business, church, nonprofit, government agency, or other resource.
