ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Building opportunity, ownership, and stronger communities.

At Black Men of South Carolina, we believe economic empowerment is essential to building strong families, independent individuals, and thriving communities. We are committed to supporting entrepreneurship, workforce development, financial education, career advancement, and the growth of Black-owned businesses throughout South Carolina.

BMOSC encourages its members and communities to intentionally support Black-owned businesses by purchasing their products and services, promoting them through personal and professional networks, and connecting business owners with new customers and opportunities. We seek to create a statewide network where Black entrepreneurs can build relationships, exchange knowledge, share resources, and support one another’s success.

We also encourage established business owners and professionals to mentor aspiring entrepreneurs, help young people develop workplace skills, offer internships and apprenticeships, and share practical guidance in areas such as business planning, marketing, financial management, technology, licensing, and contract opportunities.

Economic empowerment also requires preparing Black men for stable employment and career advancement. BMOSC supports workforce training, professional development, skilled trades, technology education, résumé preparation, interview readiness, and connections to employers seeking qualified workers.

Through collaboration with businesses, schools, financial institutions, churches, and community organizations, we seek to expand access to training, capital, contracts, employment, and business-development resources. By circulating more dollars within our communities and creating pathways to ownership and opportunity, we can build generational wealth, reduce economic hardship, and strengthen communities across South Carolina.

When Black businesses grow, they create jobs, support families, invest in neighborhoods, and inspire the next generation. Economic empowerment is not only about individual success—it is about building a stronger economic foundation for our entire community.
